Nothing in Return

Nothing in Return (By Cat Lalonde)

Hear laughter’s symphony
in a bluebird’s song.

She takes the shadows
with the light of the day.
Although it’s not easy
to sing with the birds
when the clouds are a grey haze.

Language is never as welcoming
as a kiss of rain.
Possibility through each thought,
each drop.

Bare nothing,
get nothing in return.
She takes the cold with the warmth
of another’s arms.

Hear laughter’s symphony
in darker days
One must die to grow

Give nothing,
get nothing in return.
